"Rival" - Born: July 6 2008
Registered gelding with the German Hanoverian Verband, by Raffaello.
Rival’s got a great personality, a barn favourite and a real “peoples” horse. He figures things out surprisingly quick, once he’s been introduced to something new, repeating it he behaves like a seasoned veteran. Rival is a huge boy, measured over 15h at just 9 months old. His pedigree is a competitors dream. On his sire’s side; Raffaello is an imported 16.3hh 100 day tested and approved Hanoverian stallion. He is by the proven producer Raphael, sire of numerous top level international jumping and dressage horses including Rio Grande, Radiator, Robinson, Ravallo, Raggazzo and more. Raffaello's dam, Fiola, is by the recently deceased Foxhunter (Spruce Meadows). Foxhunter produced Fortunas an Olympian in the showjumping in Athens 2004. Foxhunter's sire Watzmann produced an Olympic gold medallist, Walzerkonig. Foxhunter's dam carries the blood of both Inschallah and Absatz. Fiola's dam is by Don Juan from the same D line that produced the International show jumper Dollar Girl amongst many other top jumpers and successful stallions such as Drosselklang.
Rival’s dam’s equally impressive pedigree can be seen on her page as well.
Rival’s colour right now is a “rose grey”, but he will end up the true grey colour of both his parents.
Update: I’m very excited to say Rival has found a great sounding home in Ontario, the best part about this sale is that he’ll be moving out in the spring (once the barn is completed) with his little half brother Diego. That should make the move a little less traumatic. (I’m thinking more about myself than these 2 colts probably!) Along with Diego, Rival will be allowed some time to finish growing up and figure out his long gangly limbs and joints before being tried out in the world of jumping. I look forward to hearing about both of their progress in the future.

“JAGGER” – Han/TB cross, (BWP or CSH reg. pending) colt by Gatsby.
WOW. The markings I”ve always wanted in a horse, plus the outgoing personality to boot! I know it’s early, but I have to say I’m amazed with this colt’s brave demeanor which stands out already. Maddie (typically a mare that prefers to be outside) does not like taking this guy outside of the stall because as soon as he’s out, he takes off!
He’s got a great big world to explore and he’s not about to be held back by an “over protective, and smothering mom”.
Jagger has a full 2 year old sister that can be seen on this website. Genesee is Maddie’s 2007 filly and a real stunner.
This colt must be seen to be appreciated. Jagger can be registered with either the BWP or CSHA, if bought early enough; the buyer can choose which registry.
Please contact us for more pictures, a video clip and more information on this super nice looking and flashy moving colt.

Eowyn
Born: May 31 2009
Registration and branding with the German Hanoverian Verband to happen later this summer.
This is one cute filly, she’s a dainty and petite little girl (but that might not last being out of a 17.1h dam!) She has a sweet hearted and gentle way about her, but when she wants to play, clear out of her way!
Her sire is the expressive and typey black 16hh Hanoverian Licensing Champion Escudo II who appears in both the top list Jumpers and top list Type. He is one of only two stallions in North America to do so. Escudo II is in the Hanoverian Jumper Program and has the highest breed value for Type of any Hanoverian stallion in that Jumper Program. Escudo II maintains that top position in the 2009 Hanoverian stallion yearbook and shares his placing with Sandro Hit, a stallion also known to produces typey dressage horses, however Escudo II’s jumping index is much higher. See more about him and his pedigree on his link below.
More pictures will be posted as I take them, and a video can be created on request.
Please contact SlateHill Sporthorses for more information on Eowyn.

Diego
Born: July 18 2009
Registered and branded colt with the German Hanoverian Verband, by Donnersohn
This is one nice foal, he’s a robust, powerful colt – he looked about a month old when I saw him the morning he was born! He is so strong and I haven’t seen him take a miss step yet. And with joints like his, I’d say he’s going to be another monster horse like his older half brother Rival. Diego has a gorgeous glossy black coat now, but I suspect that will be traded in over the years for a flashy grey colour. This is my first breeding for more of a dressage result; I figured starting with the Donnerhall line might be a good idea. I absolutely can’t wait to watch this guy grow and develop. I think he’s going to be a super powerful horse in the competitive ring. I literally get “stuck” in the barn just watching him; there is something very captivating about this colt.
Update: Well, it didn’t take long, but it looks like Diego is spoken for. He’s off to Ontario next spring to a brand new home where he’ll be allowed to hang out and grow up before starting a new career in jumping. I’d be more nervous having one of my foals go so far from home, but lucky for him, he was bought with his older half brother Rival and they’ll be going to this new home together!
