Diego
Born: July 18 2009
Registered and branded colt with the German Hanoverian Verband, by Donnersohn

This is one nice foal, he’s a robust, powerful colt – he looked about a month old when I saw him the morning he was born! He is so strong and I haven’t seen him take a miss step yet. And with joints like his, I’d say he’s going to be another monster horse like his older half brother Rival. Diego has a gorgeous glossy black coat now, but I suspect that will be traded in over the years for a flashy grey colour. This is my first breeding for more of a dressage result; I figured starting with the Donnerhall line might be a good idea. I absolutely can’t wait to watch this guy grow and develop. I think he’s going to be a super powerful horse in the competitive ring. I literally get “stuck” in the barn just watching him; there is something very captivating about this colt.
Update: Well, it didn’t take long, but it looks like Diego is spoken for. He’s off to Ontario next spring to a brand new home where he’ll be allowed to hang out and grow up before starting a new career in jumping. I’d be more nervous having one of my foals go so far from home, but lucky for him, he was bought with his older half brother Rival and they’ll be going to this new home together!
